Carl Rainer, the simple and versatile writer, actor and director who came on as the “second banana” for Sid Caesar and reached the comedy front as the creator of The Dick Van Dyke Show and the 2000 Man of the Year directly from Mel Brooks , Has died He was 98.

Reiner’s assistant Judy Negi said she died of natural causes Monday night at her home in Beverly Hills, California.

He was one of the most liked men of the show business, the tall, bald Reiner Caesar’s small 1950s troupe and a welcome face on the silver screen, the snoring, toupee-clad Alan Brady of The Snake Van Dyke Show As and as such films as Russian are coming, Russians are coming and it is a crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy world.

In recent years, he was part of the Raggi Gang in Ocean’s eleven films starring George Clooney and appeared in documentaries including Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age and If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast.

Of the films he directed, Oh, God! Starring George Burns and John Denver; All My, with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin; And where is the 1970s comedy Popa? But many remember Rainer for The Dick Van Dyke Show, one of the most popular television series ever, and the ensemble cast, physical comedy and timeless, good-natured wit. This led to Van Dyke working as a television comedy writer, working for a mangy, eccentric boss (Rainer) and living with his wife (Mary Tyler Moore in her first major TV role) and young Son in suburban New Rochelle, New York.

Rainer once said, “The Van Dyke show is probably the most thrilling of my achievements, because it was very personal.” “It was about me and my wife, living in New Rochelle and working on the Sid Caesar Show.”
